Questions about Concierge Pediatric Care?
We understand that concierge pediatric care may be a new concept to you, and you likely have some questions. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions we hear from local families. If you are ready to learn more with a meet & greet with Dr. Shi, reach out today!

Dr. Shi personally conducts a Virtual Meet and Greet with all prospective families prior to signing up with the practice. This complimentary consultation provides an opportunity for both parties to get to know each other and to determine if it would be a good fit. Parents and families are encouraged to ask questions openly and learn more about the direct-access practice model and its services. Once you’re enrolled as a Little Roots Direct-Access member, you can directly book with Dr. Shi or request appointment by utilizing our smartphone app for our practice.
Membership fees are charged to your bank account, credit, or debit card monthly or annually. You can pay as a recurring monthly payment with an additional one-time enrollment fee for the family. For annual memberships, the enrollment fee is waived. You may also use your FSA or HSA to pay for a membership, but we recommend you consult with your employee benefits manager or health insurance benefits representative to confirm this.
Yes, we currently have openings in our practice. However, space is limited in order to provide personalized care to each member and family. Once the practice reaches capacity, families will be placed on a waitlist and notified when a spot becomes available.
Little Roots Pediatrics does not participate in any insurance plans for our direct-access members-exclusive services. For those with insurance, our practice works well with PPOs. We facilitate specialist referrals, procedures and/or imaging done outside of office, and lab draws. While we are unable to guarantee a specific reimbursement rate, PPOs typically allow ease with subspecialty referrals.
Yes, we work well with PPO's and most insurances to allow our patients the ability to use their insurance for additional services and medical work-up that help with care and treatment.
As much as we aim to meet our members where they are for their medical needs, we are not a hospital/emergency room/urgent care. What we promise to offer is well-thought-out care plans for acute and ongoing health concerns. If you feel that you have a medical emergency and are unable to reach your doctor, we recommend that you always report to the nearest emergency room for the fastest medical attention.
At Little Roots, we believe that each family and child deserves special attention and time to assess their health concerns and close working relationship with their pediatrician that enables proper follow up. To accomplish this, our members pay a set monthly or annual fee for access to our doctors. We work towards building lasting working relationships with our families and members, foster open communication, and provide a patient-centered care plan that is curated for each person. Our members are able to directly contact their doctors when they need medical attention, this includes weekends and after-hours for urgent health concerns.
We absolutely love Little Roots! We adore Dr. Tran she is very detailed and professional. We so recommend little roots. They have been great to us
Having Little Roots as our concierge pediatrician has been an incredible experience from start to finish. Dr. Shi and Tran are everything you could hope for—responsive, kind, and genuinely caring. As first-time parents, we were nervous and overwhelmed, but they went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable and confident. During our daughter’s first week, they called us every few days just to check in on her—and on us—which really made us feel taken care of. We instantly feel better knowing we have them just a call or message away. Whether it’s scheduling an appointment, getting advice, or addressing a concern, everything is simple and seamless. Their support is invaluable, and I truly can’t recommend Little Roots enough. If you’re considering Little Roots, stop reading this review now and just call them! Seriously, do it—you won’t regret it!
Tran was amazing . Knowledgeable, friendly , flexible and so comforting in a difficult situation with us traveling . I would highly recommend
Nurse Tran is absolutely amazing! I would recommend little roots pediatrics to everyone. If you enjoy having the choice, and open discussions with your doctor then this is the place for you and your child. She’s been there for us in emergency situations after hours, has seen our son at the spur of the moment because we were worried. I can’t say enough good things about little roots and Tran!
