Acetaminophen Pediatric Dosages

Safe for infants under 6 months old. Acetaminophen, also known as Tylenol™ is a fever reducer and pain reliever.

IMPORTANT: One dose of acetaminophen lasts 4 hours. Do not give more than 5 doses in 24 hours.

Ibuprofen Pediatric Dosages

Ibuprofen, also known as Motrin™, Advil™, is safe for infants over 6 months old. It is a fever reducer and pain reliever. It has also anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with pain from acute inflammatory injury, such as a sprained ankle.

IMPORTANT: One dose of ibuprofen lasts 6-8 hours. Do not give over 4 doses in 24 hours. Ibuprofen should not be given to infants under 6 months of age.

Diphenhydramine Pediatric Dosages

Diphenhydramine, also known as Benadryl™, is an antihistamine that can relieve symptoms of allergies, like itchy skin, watery eyes, and hives. It can induce drowsiness as a side-effect.

IMPORTANT: Diphenhydramine is an over-the-counter antihistamine for use during allergic reactions. Dosing is based on weight and not age. It should not be used in infants under 6 months of age. Give every 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours.
